Osmo Polyx Oil is a natural hard wax oil finish for untreated and unfinished wooden floors.

As a natural oil/wax mix, Oswax as we call it, is safe for humans, animals and plants and contains no biocides or preservatives.

Brushed onto the oak, it is quickly absorbed to give either a matt or satin finish which is incredibly hard-wearing, micro-porous (breathable) and yet water repellent.

Each 2.5 litre tin will cover 30 square metres with two coats and depending upon traffic levels will look great for several years.

Safe for children's toys and fast to saliva and perspiration according to European Norm EN71 and DIN 53 160.

Ingredients

Sunflower oil, soybean oil, thistle oil, carnauba wax, candelilla wax, paraffin, siccatives (drying agents and water repellents), solvent (de-aromatised white spirit, benzene free and complying with the purity demands of the European Pharmacopoeia).

Application

Wood floors

Apply with a brush or roller

Oswax is ready to use - you don't need to thin it, simply stir it well.

Apply the 1st coat thinly, thoroughly and evenly along the wood grain, removing any surplus immediately. Allow this coat to dry for at least 8-10 hours ensuring good ventilation.

Apply the 2nd coat as you did the first - this coat will flow much easier than the first. Again allow 8-10 hours for drying and ventilate well.

When the floor is thoroughly dry, you may buff or polish it with a hand polisher or a polishing machine - do be aware that you'll need a rubber gripper mat underneath any rugs to prevent them slipping on the finished floor.

Cork floors

Apply the 1st coat very thinly using a varnish scraper. the Oswax will be absorbed immediately by the very porous cork surface. Remove any excess immediately and allow to dry for 24 hours keeping the room well ventilated.

Apply the 2nd coat very thinly with a roller or brush removing any excess as you go. Allow to dry for a further 24 hours.

It's best to wait 2-3 days before polishing with a hand polisher or lint-free cloth.

Osmo Polyx-oil will continue to harden for 2 -3 weeks after application and yet allow cork floors to remain elastic.

Clean your brushes or rollers using white spirit or benzene-free brush cleaner.

Maintenance

For daily cleaning, use a duster, mop, vacuum cleaner or floor polisher.

For spillages, clean the surface using a damp mop or cloth with Osmo Wash and Care added to the water then wipe dry with a clean cloth.

For heavier stains, use Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner

If you need to renovate an area of floor previously coated with Oswax, simply reapply - you won't see the join!
