The Osmo WR Base Coat is a clear solvent-borne exterior protection product. As a ready to use product, it contains active ingredients designed to protect against wood rotting, wood staining fungi and against wood destroying insects. Swelling and shrinking is also prevented.
The base coat 4001 penetrates wood easily, to get deep into inner layers. Base coat is moisture regulating and provides an adhesive surface for subsequent treatment with finishing paints (top coat). There is a faint odour during the application and is odourless after drying.
Base coat 4001 is recommended for use in areas which are out of direct ground contact and/or surface water. Facades, windows (inner and outer parts), exterior doors (inner and outer parts), carports, shutters and balcony railings.

Application
The wood surface should be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 20%).
Supplied ready to use, stir the tin well before use.
Old microporous stains should be cleaned thoroughly and old paints and lacquers completely removed.
Apply the WR Base Coat by brush or roller, spreading out thinly and evenly along the wood texture.
Depending on the wood species and surface characteristics 2-3 coats maybe required.
The clean, dry and frost-free wood should be coated generously – if possible on all sides. In order to get the best results the product should be applied evenly.
Osmo WR Base Coat is not to be used alone, instead it is a clear impregnation to protect the wood against rot, blue stain and insect attack.
