The Blanchon Iceberg is a single component, water-based, polyurethane lacquer that provides an ultra matt finish. Using the latest innovative technology, Iceberg highlights and intensifies the original colour of light woods – achieving a modern and Nordic feel. Blanchon Iceberg has been specially formulated for light-coloured woods – strengthening their original appearance.

The high build qualities give Iceberg a smooth finish that is easy to maintain. Iceberg can be used to lacquer any type of wood flooring that has been properly prepared. To improve its resistance - and give the wood an even more pronounced untreated effect – it is advisable to add 10% of the Aqua Pro Hardener.

Application

Sand old or new wood flooring to obtain a smooth, even surface. Sand to bare wood with 24 or 36 grit, then with 50 or 60 grit and finish with 100 or 120.

Thoroughly remove all dust. The wood floor must be perfectly clean and dry with a moisture content below 10%.

Shake the lacquer vigorously. If the 2-component version of Iceberg is used (with hardener), the two components should be mixed together immediately before use. Component B (hardener) should be 10% and mixed immediately and thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes. This mixture should be used within 90 minutes.

Do not lacquer if the temperature is lower than 12°C or if the relative humidity is higher than 85%.

Apply 3 even and generous coats directly onto the wood. Alternatively 2 coats can be applied on top of Prim' Sealer.

To strengthen the untreated wood effect, use Iceberg as a first coat in its 2-component version.

After the first coat has dried, a light sanding with a buffing machine (120 or 150 sanding disc) is recommended, followed by dusting.

Sanding is essential if more than 24 hours has elapsed between coats.

The finish is typically sandable/recoatable after 3 hours in normal conditions. Do not wait more than 24 hours between coats.

Maintenance

Regularly remove dust using a vacuum cleaner or dustpan and broom.

The surface can be mopped occasionally using a damp mop. Stains can be removed with Blanchon Lagoon, Blanchon Lisabril or a neutral detergent (following manufacturer’s recommendations for concentrations). The frequency that maintenance is required will be dependent on usage and traffic.

At least 7 days should be allowed before cleaning/maintenance to give Iceberg time to cure properly.
