Creating A Stunning Crisp White Oak Floor

In this post we have a created a step by step guide to creating a highly luxurious white oak floor finish for yourself - combining the Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent and the Blanchon Hard Waxoil.
This colour has been applied onto our own European oak flooring - but is also suitable for a number of different wood types (final colour may vary).
Tools Required
- Sand Paper (120 grit recommended for a smooth finish)
- Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent - White
- Blanchon Hard Waxoil - White
- Natural Bristle Brush
- Lint Free Cloths
The first stage is to apply the Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent. This product is specifically designed to give new wood an aged/weathered appearance. The "patina" finish highlights the natural grain of the wood.
Whilst available in a number of different finishes, to create our desired colour we are opting for the Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent - White. Whilst the white colour does not age the wood specifically on its own, the white enables you to obtain pastel colours by mixing with other colours.
The surface of the oak flooring should be sanded down to bare wood. This ensures that the surface is clean and free of anything that could affect the final finish. Any traces of dust should be thoroughly removed.
In a well ventilated area, stir the finish well before and during use.
Apply the Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent - White neat using either a short-haired roller or a brush. For larger areas a buffing machine fitted with a white or beige pad can be used (do not pour on the floor).
Following the direction of the wood grain, apply a uniform and even coat - spreading the finish thinly.
Work the Ageing-Agent lightly using a lint-free cotton cloth removing the excess oil.
Continue this process for the entirety of your oak floor being careful not to apply too big of an area at a time.
With the initial Wood-Ageing Agent - White coat applied, the next step is to apply the finishing top coat. To achieve the desired look, we have used the Blanchon Hard Waxoil - White.
This next stage involves applying two coats of the Hard Waxoil product.
As before, make sure to shake the container well before use and ensure that all traces of dust are removed from the surface.
Apply the Blanchon Hard Waxoil - White using a natural bristle brush - following the direction of the wood grain.
During application, wipe very regularly with a clean cotton cloth in a circular motion - removing the excess. A buffing machine fitted with a beige pad or a polishing machine fitted with soft brushes can also be used. Work on one small area at a time.
Continue this process for the entirety of your oak floor.
8-12 hours should be left before applying a second coat of the Blanchon Hard Waxoil - White as before.
With all coats applied, extra caution should be taken during the first 8-10 days whilst the finish cures.
