Insulate Your Home With Sheep Wool Insulation

8th Jan 2020

Unlike many other insulation products on the market, Sheep Wool Insulation is completely safe, allergy-free and is also not irritating or itchy to the skin, eyes or respiratory system. Binders and glues are not used, sheep wool products are carded and woven and are therefore totally natural.

The unique advantage of sheep wool is its breathability - which allows it to absorb and release moisture from the surrounding air, without compromising it’s thermal efficiency. As the wool fibres absorb moisture, tiny amounts of heat are generated. This warmth works to prevent condensation in construction cavities - maintaining the temperature above the dew-point in damp conditions. This property effectively reduces the need to keep adjusting heating or cooling levels. Wool insulation will keep buildings cooler during the day and warmer during the night.

Sheep Wool Insulation does not burn, but instead singes away from fire and extinguishes itself. Wool has a higher fire resistance that the likes of cellulose and cellular plastic insulation.

For both vertical as well as horizontal applications we have the Sheep Wool Insulation Premium Rolls. Premium rolls are high density (20kg/m3) and have a thermal conductivity of 0.0359 W/m2k.  Due to its high density, premium rolls are particularly suited for walls and sloping rafters.

The Sheep Wool Insulation Comfort Rolls are ideal for attic insulation and loft insulation. Comfort rolls offer high performing thermal insulation along with high acoustic performance. Comfort are low density (14kg/m3) and have a thermal conductivity of 0.042W/m2k. Comfort rolls are ideal for horizontal applications, floor and ceilings.

Both our Premium and Comfort Roll Sheep Wool Insulation is available in sizes of 380mm x 100mm x 4000mm, 380mm x 150mm x 3000mm, 570mm x 100mm x 4000mm and 570mm x 150mm x 3000mm.

Further to joist or ceiling applications, Sheep Wool Insulation can also be used as an underlay between wooden flooring (including oak flooring) and the subfloor (concrete or OSB boards). For this our SilentWool Underlay can be used. This underlay removes the contact between the two hard surfaces creating an intermediate layer to absorb the vibration.
