Hakwood Classical Or Rustic Engineered Oak Flooring?

5th Feb 2015 @ 17:43

As one of the pioneers of engineered oak flooring, Hakwood have been in business since 1903. Nowadays, Hakwood have a huge range of floor styles, colours and textures of both prefinished and unfinished flooring. In the unfinished engineered oak flooring range there are a number of different grades available; including the Classical grade and the Rustic grade.

The Hakwood Classical is similar in grade to our barn grade oak flooring. These boards combine a range of healthy knots, shakes and colour variation. The classical grade is the ideal grade for those areas where you require maximum character, yet you need all the advantages an engineered oak board brings.

If you would prefer a grade that is slightly cleaner, there is the Hakwood Rustic grade. This grade can be seen as similar to our character grade oak flooring, blending some knots and shakes, with areas of perfectly grained oak. This grade of flooring is suited for all environments - looking great in older or more contemporary settings alike.

Like with all of our engineered oak flooring, these Hakwood boards are 20mm thick, consisting of a 6mm solid oak top layer fixed to 14mm water resistant plywood. These particular grades are available in widths of 142mm, 180mm and 240mm. The legendary machining accuracy of Hakwood floors means they really are a delight to fit - whether you’re a DIYer or a professional.

Supplied unfinished, you have the option to finish the boards however you like. A natural hard wax oil, such as the Blanchon Hard Waxoil or Osmo Polyx-Oil, will leave the boards with a warm natural, honey colour. A natural satin variant of the same finish will add the slightest bit of sheen. There are of course a number of other finishes available for achieving lighter or darker tones.
