What Are The Benefits Of Unfinished Oak Flooring?

18th Oct 2012 @ 16:36

Once you have decided that oak flooring is right for you, and made the decision on whether to go for solid or engineered boards, the next choice you will have to make is whether you want prefinished or unfinished oak boards. Often prefinished boards are chosen as a quicker option, however unfinished boards have a number of their own benefits.

When choosing unfinished solid or engineered oak boards, the freedom on exactly how you want your floor to look is completely down to you. With prefinished oak boards, you do not have the freedom to change the boards to suit your environment, you are instead left with what you purchased. Unfinished boards can be finished and changed to however you require.

Further to more freedom, choosing an unfinished oak floor can often result in a better result. Finishing the boards once they have been installed will often leave your boards with a much more natural and even finish.

To finish your unfinished boards, we recommend using a hard wax oil such as the Blanchon Hard Waxoil.
