Tour of Britain 2011 - Stoke-on-Trent
The Tour of Britain cycle race takes place this week, which runs right across Britain in 8 separate stages. The race began last Sunday (11th September 2011) for Stage 1 which saw the cyclist battling it out from Peebles to Dumfries. 6 more stages follow this race before the final leg takes place in London on Sunday 18th September.
Yesterday (13th September) the event passed through the Stoke-on-Trent area for Stage 3 of the race. Starting out at Trentham Gardens the route eventually leads the cyclists to the climb of Morridge Ridge right on the edge of the Peak District National Park. This area is just up the road from Peak Oak, where we were present to support the riders as they battled the fiercely brutal winds that were blowing at the time. Whilst there, we also managed to take a few pictures, all of which can be viewed on our Facebook page by clicking here.
Today (14th September) the race returns to Wales as they ride from Welshpool to Caerphilly. To view more information regarding The Tour of Britain race you can visit their official website by clicking here.
