Not a fan of the sleek modern designs that are often seen in modern day houses? Then why not take a look at the striking effect that can be created with some distressed oak flooring. Though these boards are of course an acquired taste, in the right environment this effect can really improve the look and feel of the entire room and produce a striking yet stunning result.

These boards do still retain a similar amount of knots and cracks as standard grade oak flooring, however they do give a feeling that they have been seemingly "singed" and recovered from a derelict burnt building.
