Grange, Legere or Mansion 14mm Solid Oak Flooring?

31st Mar 2014 @ 12:01

Our range of 14mm solid oak flooring has proved to be one of our most popular sellers. These 14mm boards are made from the same high quality European oak as our 20mm solid oak boards. As these boards are 14mm in thickness, they are just thick enough to provide stable flooring, yet thin enough so all important room height is not lost. Currently we have three different grades of 14mm solid oak available: Grange, Legere and Mansion.

The Grange grade is the equivalent of our Barn grade. Grange solid oak boards are for those looking for maximum character from there oak flooring. These boards will include a high number of knots, burrs, colour streaks, shakes, cracks and also the odd hole. These boards can look great in the likes of Tudor cottages or old pubs.

The Legere grade is produced from the same oak as our Character grade oak flooring. This means these boards will feature knots of varying size, colour variation, shakes, cracks as well as areas of perfectly grained oak. The character boards are perfect for just about any environment.

14mm Grades

Mansion 14mm solid oak flooring is a deeply striped brown oak board. These stripes arise when a naturally occurring fungus living within the oak tree, causes discolouration of the timber. Once this timber has been milled, the floorboards have deeply coloured areas of grain. In terms of grading, the brown oak has a similar range of knots as the character grade.

All of these grades of 14mm are currently available in widths of 120mm, 140mm and 160mm. If you would like to discuss any of these grades further with us, please give us a call on 01538 304584.
