Is Oak Flooring Suitable Inside A Shop?

24th Oct 2012 @ 15:49

The heavy and constant footfall of customers means a shop needs a flooring that is completely up for the job, whilst also looking great. So is oak flooring a suitable option?

To start with oak flooring is naturally extremely hardwearing, and great with coping against general wear and tear. This therefore makes oak flooring perfect at withstanding all that heavy traffic as customers pass through a shop. With customers, will also come muck and dirt that will need to wiped clean daily. A simple sweep or vacuum will help to keep dust and grit off the surface, whilst a wipe with a damp mop will keep your floor looking as good as new.

Wet footprints are also a common occurrence inside shops, and something which the flooring should be able to handle. Engineered oak flooring is much less prone to changes caused by changes in humidity compared to a traditional solid oak floor. This means an engineered oak floor is often used in areas such as the bathroom and kitchen. Wet footprints can therefore be easily handled by an engineered oak floor.

The final huge advantage of choosing oak flooring for a shop is of course how great it can truly look. Whether your looking for that completely rustic look, or a clean near perfection look, there is always an oak board suitable.
