Armchair Inspired Oak Bathtub

At Peak Oak we are always on the look out for something different or unique to catch our eye, and this bathtub by Dutch Designer Thomas Linssen of Studio Thol does exactly that. With the bathrooms designed as an area that is supposed to be relaxing, this bathtub ensures that comfort is also something which you can now enjoy.

In his approach to this project, Linssen treated it as if it was a object in the living room with inspiration for the bathtub being drawn from an armchair. The wooden frame of the chair is made from American White Oak which acts as the mould from which the bathtub was created. The actual tub is made from a composite of polyester and marble.

Linssen explains that “For this project I took the frame of a chair, designed with comfort and posture in mind, and let it evolve into a bathtub. The base of the bath is defined by its oak-wood “skeleton’, the composite tub slightly puffs up between the wooden beams, pushed into this shape naturally through water pressure.”
