What is Character Oak?

With so many different grades of oak available, its no wonder that some get confused and it leaves them asking what exactly is it? One of the more recent questions that has been asked is “what is character oak?” Character oak, for us at Peak Oak, is probably our most popular and most sought after piece of flooring due to it’s beautiful and characteristic style.  The wood itself is made up of a few occasional knots which can come in varying sizes with the color between these knots also being very varied and unique to each individual piece. From these changeable factors, its easy to see how this type became known as “character oak” as they add there own unique characteristics to the piece.

The image above shows one of our sets of engineered character oak flooring which has been fitted into a bathroom. As the image shows character grade oak flooring is perfect for just about any type of situation ranging from a modern day home to a classic family cottage. Unlike cheaper flooring's such as laminate, character grade oak flooring will only look better with age, as it brings warmth and character into your home.
