Blanchon Hard Waxoil -The Osmo Polyx-Oil Challenger

4th Jan 2011 @ 15:20

Introducing Blanchon Hard Waxoil - the only genuine alternative to Osmo Polyx-Oil for treating unfinished slid and engineered oak flooring.

If you've ever bought oak flooring from us, you'll know how much we love Osmo Polyx-Oil, however, we've always found the 24 hour drying time of standard Polyx-Oil to be a bugbear for some customers. Osmo do supply a Rapid Set version of Polyx-Oil, but this is usually prohibitively expensive for most domestic users.

Add to this a certain "inflexibility" in the pricing structures for Osmo and we were left looking for a product which could match Osmo but allow us to offer even better value to you, our customer.

Blanchon Hard Waxoil is that product.

Blanchon are relatively unknown in the UK but have been manufacturing wood finishes in France for over 200 years and their products are still used in the palace at Versailles as well as on the wood flooring at Seoul Airport in South Korea.

Using similar vegetable based oils and waxes to Osmo, Blanchon Hard Waxoil has the added benefit of a sub 5 hour drying time (like Osmo Rapid Set) but at a lower price than standard Osmo Polyx Oil.

We've had some oak boards treated with Blanchon Hard Wax oil on test for a number of weeks now and applied the usual barrage of red wine, water, mud, etc. and the Blanchon has stood up just as well as Osmo.

By way of introduction, we've made Blanchon Hard Waxoil our special offer this month at just £48 including VAT and UK mainland delivery - ridiculous I know!

P.S. We're also very excited about a new water-based, eco-friendly, wood floor finish from Blanchon which doesn't colour the oak in any way.

For those of you who want the "unfinished look" for your oak floors and doors, this is will be the perfect solution - look out for a launch on this website very soon.
