Green Oak Beams

Green oak is the term given to oak that has been recently felled and milled into beams and timber.

As such, it has yet to season and dry out properly meaning that when it is used in construction it will crack and fissure as it dries out.

This is a desirable effect seen in many old and contemporary buildings and most new timber framed houses and garden structures are built using green oak.
