What Is Select Grade Oak Flooring?

21st Oct 2013 @ 16:32

When choosing your oak flooring, one of the many decisions you will have to make is what grade your going to go for. The grading essentially ranges from boards which are full of knots, cracks and shakes (like our barn grade) to a completely clean board with no knots or cracks (prime grade). We also have grades which fit in between these. One such grade is the Select Grade.

Whilst the prime grade are boards with no knots, cracks or shakes at all, our select grade is made up of boards with just the slightest bit of character. In terms of grade, the select is just one below the prime grade. The select grade consists of large areas of clean board, which are broken up by the occasional pip knot or tiny crack.

The select grade can look great in the modern home, where it can provide the perfect backdrop to contemporary furniture whilst the small pin knots offer that little bit of character. Our select grade is supplied unfinished, leaving you to finish it off in whatever way you see fit. As with all our grades, the select grade is hand picked and sorted to ensure that grade you order is the grade you will get.

To really appreciate the select grade flooring, we always recommend when possible you come and see it in person. If you would like to learn more however please give us a call on 01538 304584.
